1 John 1- The Word of Life

1 The Word of Life, who was from the beginning, who we heard and saw with our own eyes, who we have touched,

2 (because this Eternal Life who was sent from the Father, was shown to us, and we are eye witnesses, and now tell you about Him,)

3 We are telling you what we have seen and heard, so you can also join us in our relationship with the Father and His Son, Jesus the Anointed One.

4 We write these things to you so our joy may be complete.

John's joy will be complete when his audience accepts salvation.

Walking in the Light

5 This is the message which He told us, and we tell you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 

6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, but walk in darkness, we lie, and do not live in the truth: 

7 But if we live in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus the Anointed One, God's son, cleanses us from all sin. 

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 

9 If we confess our sins, He is trustworthy and just, and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all wickedness. 

10 If we say that we have never sinned, we are calling Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
