Isaiah 55-

1 Ho, every one that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that has no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
God is our provider. All we have to do is ask and He will take care of us.

2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which satisfies not? Hearken diligently unto Me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

We often waste our resources on things that don’t matter. God provides what is really needed, but it is our choice how to use our resources.

3 Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

God makes promises to those who listen to Him; Promises in the same vein as those made to David.

4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.

David was a great example of God's mercy to those who choose to follow Him.

5 Behold, thou shall call a nation that thou know not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified thee.

God often brings glory to those who serve Him in order to draw others to Him. Also for a reward.

6 Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near:

There does come a time when God quits messing with individuals. We do have a limited time to answer His call. He desires every human being to serve Him, but He won’t always mess with them.

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

God offers forgiveness to anyone, no matter how wicked, who will turn from their sins towards God.

8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord.

God doesn’t think like we do. While we want to punish someone or at least withhold forgiveness when they are wicked, God loves them and shows mercy. He is waiting eagerly to restore anyone who seeks forgiveness to Him.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

God's ways are superior to ours.

We can only see what is happening right this minute. We might can take a pretty good guess at what will happen in the near future, but we don't really know. Much like someone walking through a long tunnel that twists and turns, we can only know what is immediately around us.

God, however, is outside of time. He can see all of history at once. All of time is spread out in front of Him like a long chart on a table.

So, when God does something we don't understand, we can trust that He is the One with all the information. He sees something down the road that we don't see. He knows what He is doing.

10 For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

It is no waste for the rain to fall and not go back to the sky, but to water all the plants.

In the same way, it is not a waste for God to talk. His Will will be accomplished. We can trust that if we use the freedom of choice He has given us to follow Him, He will erase our sins and lead us by His side.

12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Life with God is good.

13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

Life with God is productive.
