Exodus 23e- Cheeseburgers and Divine Guidance

Exodus 23:17 Three times a year all thy males shall appear before the I AM God.

18 Don't offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, neither shall the fat of My sacrifice remain until the morning.

Drain the blood out of any sacrifice before it is offered on the altar, with tortillas instead of normal bread, and burn up all the fat immediately.

This would be the cover fat; a layer of fat between the skin and muscle. The marbling fat woven in the muscle wouldn't be removable.

Turns out there is a chemical difference between the cover fat and the marbling fat. Cover fat contains contaminants the body is trying to get rid of. Marbling fat doesn't, but does contain vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy body.

Blood also contains many contaminants the body is trying to dispose of. We really don't want to put those contaminants into our own body by eating it.

there is an increasing number of people who are victims of the wide spread, systematic yeast infection Candida. I have wondered if we all obtained from yeast breads for a couple weeks a year if it would prevent this.

Exodus 23:19 The first of the things thou harvest each year thou shall bring into the house of the I AM thy God. Thou shall not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Deuteronomy 14:21 You shall not eat of anything that dies of itself. Thou can give it to the immigrant that is in thy gates, that he may eat it, or thou may sell it to an alien, for thou are a holy people to the Lord thy God. Thou shall not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

The first things you harvest each year are to be brought to God as a thanksgiving gift.

Things that die for no good reason are often diseased. God does not want Israel to eat those things to protect them from getting sick. It's OK to give that meat to others, though.

The second half of this verse (both places it appears) seems to us to be pretty arbitrary.

Why would God stick this command about seething a kid in his mother's milk in the middle of this discussion of holidays or eating things that die by themselves?

It turns out that the pagans in Canaan had an annual ceremony performed at the time of harvest where they seethed a kid in his mother's milk and then scattered it on their land as a plea for fertility of crops from the local, false gods. The true God did not want them to do this.

This is in no way, shape, or form prohibiting the eating of dairy products with meat. It isn't even mentioned. In fact, God Himself ate milk and meat together:

Genesis 18:1, 8- Then the I AM appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. . . . So he took butter and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it before them (God and the two angels), and he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

So it's OK to eat a cheeseburger.

Exodus 23:20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to protect thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

God is providing guidance and protection for His people.

21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not, for he will not pardon your transgressions, because My name is in him.

There is some debate whether this means Joshua or a spirit being, since the word “angel” means “ministering spirit” and is used to stand for both humans and spirits in the Bible.

22 But if thou shall completely obey his voice, and do everything that I say, then I will be an enemy to thine enemies, and an adversary to thine adversaries.

23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.

Six nations are listed here. I believe there were actually eight different nations in Canaan, but the other two didn’t engage in child sacrifice, and so didn't deserve total annihilation.

24 Thou shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do what they do, but thou shall completely overthrow them, and completely break down their images.

“Totally destroy all signs of idolatry.”

25 And ye shall serve the I AM your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the middle of thee.

God cares for and blesses those who love Him.

26 There shall nothing miscarry, nor be infertile, in thy land. Thou will live a long and full life.

27 I will send My fear before thee, and will destroy all the people thou come across, and I will make all thine enemies run away from thee.

God puts a supernatural fear of His people in their enemies, which goes a long way to explaining the animosity of the secular crowd in this country. They are afraid of us.

28 And I will send hornets before thee, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite, from before thee.

God drove out three of their enemy nations with hornets. Imagine hornets being so bad you pick up and move to get away from them.

29 I will not drive them out from before thee in a single year, or the land will become desolate, and the wild animals will multiply against thee.

God did this little by little so the land wouldn’t grow up weeds and entrench wild animals, which are harder to get rid of than human enemies.

30 A little at a time I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

31 And I will set thy borders from the Red sea even to the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the river, for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and thou shall drive them out before thee.

Solomon actually controlled all that land, the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba to the Euphrates to the Mediterranean. It took time for Israel to conquer this land, but it did happen.

32 Thou shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

Do NOT make deals with heathens.

This is how we got in the mess with our public schools that we are in. From the founding of this country, educational neglect was illegal, but the where, when, and how was decided (and paid for) by the parents (and for the poor, church charities). We had a 98% literacy rate (today’s rate is 85%.)

Then the atheists came a long wanting to remove God and freedom from our society. They offered the deal to the Protestants that they would work together to remove the Catholicism from the Irish immigrants’ children using public schools and compulsory attendance laws.

And the Christians bought it.

As a result, yes, Catholicism was removed, but eventually the same laws were turned against the Protestants and are being used to remove God from our children.

We should have listened to God.

33 They shall not live in thy land, or they will make thee sin against Me, for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a trap unto thee.

The average American Christian today is far more concerned with social standing and entertainment than with obeying God's word. We have reaped what we have sown.
