Leviticus 12- Purification after Childbirth

And the I AM spoke to Moses, saying,

Speak to the children of Israel, saying, “If a woman has given birth to a son, she will be unclean for seven days, just like during her period.

When he is eight days old, he will be circumcised.

And she shall then be purified for thirty-three days. She can't touch anything holy, enter the sanctuary until the thirty-fourth day.

But if she has a daughter, she will be unclean for two weeks, like when on her period. Then she will continue being purified for sixty-six days.

Girls babies need more bonding time with mamma than boy babies, so this extended time of purification lets mamma focus on baby for longer.

When the days for her purifying are finished, whether for a son or a daughter, she will bring a lamb less than a year old for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, to the door of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, to the priest,

Who will offer it before the I AM, and make an payment for her, and she will be clean after the flow of blood from childbirth. This is the Law for anyone who has given birth, whether a boy or girl.

If she can't bring a lamb, then she will bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons; one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering, and the priest will make an atonement for her, and she will be clean.
